CollapseResponsibilities

On a construction project located in Tomah, WI we were expanding a distribution center for Wal-Mart Stores. Wal-mart has strict guidelines regarding construction where you are disturbing existing earth to expand the parking lot area. Your construction area, after the parking lot is installed must have final stabilization of grass around the parking lot and it spans over a large area. In our budget we allowed $25,000 for sod, so that we would be able to have final stabilization quickly and thus final bill our project. I was acting as a fill in for the superintendent on site, for two weeks, pushed the job to be finished faster than anticipated, which allowed for us to hydro spray the area where we needed to lay the sod instead. This was a new technology for growing grass from seed rather than paying the expense of sod. The hydro spraying cost $2500, compared to the $25,000 worth of sod our budget was allowed, profitting the company an additional $22,500. The grass also looked better than if it was soded.
