our department was responsible for setting appointments with merchants for our outside sales reps, my job was to obtain their qualifying financial information as they were often small business' I would have to call back often so they could take care of their customers. It was not unusual for me to chase them for a week or so until we sealed the deal.
It was necessary for us to review personal financial statements in order for us to make a viable offer(usually a discounted rate for services)most merchants did not wish to divulge the information based on the assumption that we would just undercut their current provider. I often had to spend a significant amount of time convincing them otherwise, I was REALLY GOOD at reassuring them of our sincerity and commitment to excellent service.
