To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to express my interest in a position located in Virginia. I am currently employed at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport, Rhode Island in the Cruise Missile Fleet Support, Logistics Engineering Branch and will be moving to the Norfolk, VA area in January 2008.
As you can see from my enclosed resume, I have five years committed to my current position. All of these years of experiences have taught me something different and have shaped me into who I am today. My most challenging experience was to meet the expectations of both my employer and co-workers. To perform up to the same caliber the retired Naval Chiefs, Senior Chiefs and Master Chiefs do; for they have a lifetime of experience were I only have limited years of experience and the willingness to learn. It placed a ton of responsibilities on my shoulders that new employees are not usually assigned. Although I was overwhelmed at times, I worked hard, stayed focused and got the job done. Working in this type of environment has enhanced my skills of working with different types of people, working in a group, working with minimal instruction, making compromises, staying organized, and much more. I am confident that these skills will help me succeed in whatever environment I am working in.
A letter and a resume are only able to portray a small amount of my motivation and qualifications. I would like to further discuss my background with you in person or on the phone at your convenience. I am confident that I would be an asset to your organization, learning new concepts and improving other skills. Thank you for your consideration.
