Description
Business management - Essex Manufacturing (Queens, N.Y.) - 1976-1983. Executive Vice President. My family and I owned and ran the largest slitting/converting operation in the U.S. (based in Ridgewood, Queens, N.Y./ founded in 1946 by my father). I ran the manufacturing division and sales department. I was in charge of hiring and managed 75 employees on two 8-hour shifts when needed and I became fluent in Spanish, as many of the workers were from Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Jamaica. From the time I joined the company until the company was sold in 1983, sales increased by 45 percent and profits grew at a rate of 10 to 15 percent per year. Our largest client was Johnson & Johnson, which accounted for more than 50 percent of our revenue. The business became extremely valuable due to its profitability and lack of competition. At that point, an executive with Johnson & Johnson gave us an offer to buy the business. Owner/Sales Manager - Metro Wall Covering Distribution Corp. (Garden City, Long Island, N.Y.) - 1983-1990. The company had over 3,000 retail accounts with four sales representatives promoting our products on the road at all times. The business was sold in 1990. Financial Advisor - 1991 - 2012 New York and Florida - Registered by Securities & Exchange Commission which included a Series 7 License. I grew my business from zero clients to more than 50 clients and managed approximately $40 million. Day trader - 2012 - 2021 I left the financial industry in 2012 and, up until recently, I was a day trader of my own stocks, mutual funds and bonds.
