COVER LETTER: To Whom It May Concern: As a Licensed Occupational Therapist, I have provided Occupational Therapy Services, and leadership twenty-three years since receiving my initial temporary license, October 1997. I have experienced work in many different settings adding to my diversification of skills. These areas of healthcare practice include Home Health, Aquatic Therapy, ECI Pediatrics (birth to 3), Geriatrics, Long Term Care Skilled Nursing facilities with an Alzheimer's unit, LTAC Specialty Hospitals, Hand Therapy, Inpatient Acute Rehab ICU, SNF, Outpatient Rehab Adults and Pediatrics most recently Inpatient Acute Care Medical - Surgical and SWING Bed Rehab. My diversification was further enhanced by my experiences as I was given the responsibility to hire and develop staff to build OT rehab services to a high quality of care. Additional work tasks in my career were scheduling therapy services, billing reports, productivity tracking, and working with the marketing coordinator in these facilities programs to build a strong referral base. Through Leadership Development, Strength Finders and Emotional Intelligence training, I have learned more about developing my leadership skills and patient care awareness. As a youth, my leadership skills were recognized by the American Red Cross when I was 15 years old giving me a scholarship to attend Leadership training. I was the only non-college student at this training. I volunteered and worked with the American Red Cross Programs in a Leadership role as an instructor from June 1975 through February 2001. My careers as an Instructor Leader with the American Red Cross Programs and Aquatic Specialty led me to build my career in Healthcare, from 1977 - 1978 working as a housekeeper, to 1980 - 1984 working as a Pharmacy Technician, which all lead me to a career as an Occupational Therapist, 1997 - current. I am committed to the field of Occupational Therapy to support students as a clinical Instructor, and to co-workers through changes in organization, including new electronic documentation. I work to build TEAM approaches, collaborating with rehab specialist Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Case Managers, Hospitalists, Nursing teams for interdisciplinary treatments, and through accurate documentation for patients to achieve their desired rehab goals. I continuously look to enhance the services of Occupational Therapy for the patients that I currently serve, and those that I will serve in the future. Sincerely, MaryAlice H.
