Jonas Johakimu holds BSc and MSc degrees in Process and Chemical Engineering. Additionally, he has also attended pulp and paper technology course (graduate level), Trondheim, Norway. He started his professional career as a Process Engineer at an integrated Kraft pulp mill. He worked in the technical and environmental service department. In particular, he was accountable for power boiler, chemical recovery, and water and waste water treatment plants. As a result, he posses good knowledge of industrial water and waste water systems, especially process involved in the preparation of boiler feed water, treatment of condensate as well as effluent streams. Currently, Jonas Johakimu is a Senior Process Technologist Specialist at CSIR Chemical cluster, biorefinery group. The role amongst others entails providing consultation to industry, developing and managing projects, managing pilot and main plant trials, performing feasibility studies/techno-economic assessments etc. These projects amongst others included water and waste water projects. In the last 10 years, he has managed water and industrial waste water projects that address issues facing the pulp and paper industry. The scope of these works amongst others involved characterization of various water and waste water streams, water system closure and maximizing the efficiency of the water treatment and/recovery systems.
