Oakland Military Institute August 2019 - Present U.S. History and Ethnic Studies Teacher Making Waves Academy August 2017 - June 2019 Upper school World History Teacher 10th Grade Level Lead * I teach World History II to sophomores in a college preparatory charter school that serves economically underserved students in Richmond, California. * I served as an advisor for a group of juniors, preparing them for SAT testing and serving as an academic counselor. * I prepared my World History students to compete in both the 2018 and 2019 National History Day Fair with 3 of the eligible groups moving on to compete at the state level. * As grade level lead, I organized collaborative team meetings to discuss effective plans for academic and behavioral interventions. * I am currently the Faculty lead for Saturday Academy. Stratford School - Fremont August 2016 - June 2017 Middle school Specialty Teacher * I taught and designed curriculum for an elective course that explores speech and debate, drama, and visual arts to middle school students. * I also served as co-sponsor of the yearbook committee. Five Keys Charter School, San Francisco County Jail #5 July 2016 - August 2016 Summer School Teacher * I taught World History II and U.S. Government to adult students working towards their high school diploma or GED in accordance with the California standards for Social Sciences. Appomattox Regional Governor's School for the Arts and Technology, August 2011 - January 2016 Social Sciences Instructor * I taught sophomores in World History II and seniors in U.S. Government in accordance with the Virginia Department of Education framework for Social Sciences * I have successfully prepared students for the annual end of year Standards of Learning testing * The past two years have produced Standards of Learning pass rates above 90% * I have proven to be able to maintain an organized and safe learning environment and continue to work on classroom management skills * Acted as Class of 2015 Sponsor (September 2012 - June 2014) to provide guidance for class officers and ensure that all class activities ran smoothly. * As class sponsor, I organized various fundraisers and guided the homecoming and prom committees in planning and execution. * I also successfully organized the junior class ring ceremony.
