Description
Name: Jamesetta P. Wahblo- Seton Degree Desired: Master Applying for: Master in in Public Health My name is Jamesetta P. Wahblo-Seton, a Liberian and a 2018 graduate of the United Methodist University with a BBA Degree in Business Administration in Management. My educational aspirations and career vision consist of acquiring a higher degree in Public Health at the level of aspiring to be a health practitioner capable of designing practical public health safety methods, analyzing, reporting, and in general, be effective and efficient in disseminating public health awareness in my community and country. I had the privilege to work as a Disaster Monitor during the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak in Liberia; I developed the interest in Public Health while responding to the needs of people during the EVD outbreak. Between 2014- 2016 the World Health Organization reported cases of Ebola virus Disease (EVD) in Southeastern Guinea. This was the beginning of the West Africa Ebola epidemic which historians named as the largest in the history of man. The virus spread to Liberia and Sierra Leone with the number of cases reported at 28,616 out of which 11,325 deaths recorded. My country Liberia recorded 10,678 cases either suspected, probable and confirmed. Of that number, 3,163 cases were confirmed from laboratory testing and a total of 4,810 deaths recorded. This crisis made our economy to go down further. However, during the Ebola outbreak, the General Services Agency of Liberia alone with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Disaster Relief Commission now the called the National Disaster Management Agency of Liberia coordinated to fight Ebola. I started as a Coordinator and then to Asset Monitor and now I am a Disaster Monitor. Even though I come from a Business Administration in Management background, the Ebola experience I can say, it positively shaped my career and passion. My personal experience and achievements range from serving as a focal person with the Ministry of Internal Affairs to serving as a member on the Technical team in crafting the pandemic plan of Liberia. Also, I was a member of the core team that worked on the
