* Managed all Human Resources and Operations activities of an organizational division both in the U.S. and Afghanistan. Recruited and trained staff, established policies and procedures, assessed skills of Afghani Army Forces, staff performance evaluations and motivation of employees, Afghani and Georgian personnel, State Department Officials and Afghani Tribal Elders. * Coordinated, planned, and executed the Middle East Holiday Travel/Event Itinerary for the Commandant of the Marine Corps and Secretary of Navy. Partnered with multiple U.S. interagency and foreign personnel and synchronized ground/air transportation, security, and logistics support. Both VIP's enjoyed their trip while visiting Marines, Sailors and Foreign Dignitaries. * Directed the review of Human Resources and Talent Management functions of Headquarters, U.S. Special Operations Command against Special Operations Central Command's Personnel Administration Section. Put in place changes to bring consistency across agencies especially regarding the Leave and Liberty Policies and Temporary Additional Duty Travel Budget Management Procedures. * Boosted productivity and effectiveness through implementation of a comprehensive on-boarding training course for newly assigned military or hired civilian personnel. Added curricula, and delivered lecture, small group, and one-on-one instruction to over 240 personnel and oversaw the review and accreditation of this program by the Marine Corps University. * Enhanced morale through promotion of a team-based work atmosphere. Provided assignments of increased responsibility along with opportunities for additional training and challenging performance incentives that encouraged a sense of ownership in the overall operation. * Managed the local National Linguist Program for the organization's initial entrance into Afghanistan. Partnered with a Contracting Officer, Department of State official, USAID worker, and Budget Office to develop and manage the program for imbedding locals for added communications for our U.S forces. * Researched contract bids that would be considered for contracting support for Marine Central Command's directorates. Reviewed contract performance of work, position descriptions and criteria to understand best value. Information provided to MARCENT Board Members, which allowed them to confidently vote on contractual bids. * Developed a presentation for high school students on the role of the United States Marine Corps in our nation's defense. Created teaching aids and visuals to bring out the Marines story in support of the National Youth Leadership Forum. * Managed the physical fitness and training standards for U.S. Marine Corps personnel assigned to MacDill Air Force Base. Planned, encouraged, and participated in physical fitness training events and fitness competitions. Visited with Marines in their work spaces and motivated them to maintain optimal fitness standards for potential combat deployment. Daniel C. Hench Page 2 * Taught new Executive Officers and Senior Enlisted Leaders on the business practices and standard operating procedures of the agency. Reviewed, refined and merged all course content to ensure all trainers were fully prepared to brief and answer questions on their section's role. * Collaborated with users of the legacy administrative tracking system to establish a team to visualize and plan the next new tracking system. Contracted a technology consulting firm to design the new system based upon input learned while facilitating the overall process. Brainstormed possibilities for present and future needs and managed the testing of the Beta version. The new system proved so successful it became web-based in 2015. * Managed the ethical standards of my team during the initial invasion of Iraq. Reviewed and discussed literature and historical examples where military units demonstrated a lack of professionalism. Accentuated the importance of Keeping Our Honor clean where ever we go. * Created a summer camp for youth entering the 6th grade from the ground up. Partnered with organizational parents to fund the start-up, and developed a budget to cover camp costs, hire a camp counselor and create a daily camp schedule and activities. The success of this camp continued for additional years. * Spearheaded a review of condolence letter processing delays in the Casualty Affairs Branch. Initiated a process improvement review of the entire process and the personnel involved. Put-in-place changes that greatly improved the timeliness of the Commandant of Marine Corps letter to family members of the deceased Marine.
