Career journey BNY Mellon India Pvt Ltd Aug 2005 to 03 June 2017 Assistant Manager - Vice President - Global Custody/Asset Servicing Operations of Investment Banking I was responsible for Client onboarding, Data migration & documentation, Performance Appraisals, Project Management of R2R (General Ledger process), Balance Sheet Reconciliation (RCoE -Reconciliation Center of Excellence) of Transfer Agency, Fund Accounting & Global Custody Accounts (Cash, Trade & Position Recon - Capital Market) using TLM reconciliation system. Managed CASS & FCA/PRA (Regulatory & Financial) reporting (i.e. Reconciliations, Review and Commentary on open items) & valuation of financial institution accounts. Followed various regulatory acts like CASS, CAP & BASEL etc. to make sure client money is safe and secured by providing required details to the regulators as and when required. Successfully done migration/transition of various processes from USA (Boston), Belgium & Frankfurt (Europe), Manchester (UK), Singapore (APAC). Review and strengthen process controls of reconciliation as a control Spoke which includes Team not following procedure, incorrect system access rights, inadequate record keeping, Unavailability and questionable integrity of data, unauthorized access to information and systems security, Revisiting KRIs and KPIs. Prepare & distribute Ad-hoc reports to respective fund managers. Perform position ad cash reconciliations on daily basis within set deadline. Also perform Intellimatching for global business centers. Ensure compliance on KYC, AML and Regulatory related compliance with understanding of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standard) Ancillary/ Reporting: Specialized client reporting, interfacing with Compliance, Audit, Risk and Legal. Liaison with internal departments and external agent banks which includes FCA - Financial Conduct Authority/PRA- Prudential Regulation Authority/CASS- Client Assets & FED- Federal Reserve. Support the team in their monthly P&L Analysis and accounting of complex valuations, Performance measurements and ensure that all deadlines and targets are met with. Liaise with other internal departments like Corporate Actions, Pricing and Trade Capture team, income collection team with regard to their solution of outstanding issues ensuring that immediate supervisor is kept informed of arising issues. Daily and Monthly review of Journal entry postings incorporating with accruals calculations and posting, cash and stock differences, outstanding receivables, pricing and corporate actions. All to ensure that monthly valuations are in accordance with our clients service agreements, bank policies and legal and regulatory requirements. Support team with their daily and monthly P&L and Balance sheet issues & Perform calculation and posting of accruals for the client accounts on monthly basis. Support in documentation of global/legal entity wise Regulatory data requirements for reporting purpose. Perform Balance Sheet Reconciliation along with follow up on open items in balance sheet account reconciliation. Set up and maintenance for the cash, security and billing accounts on BNYM systems. Client Liaison: Work closely with client and Front Office (Client service officers), Transaction Management group, Back office, Custody, Securities Clearing, investment banks intermediaries. Identification & clearing: Matching the trade information with the local or transitional depository. Work closely with the counterparty, depository, sub custodian banks and other intermediaries to ensure accurate and timely closer of the breaks. Reconciliation: Research and resolution of Cash and Security Reconciliation Variance. Mismatch. Value Date = Breaks, Missing Trades, Direction, Break Clause, Internal Reconciliation, Ad Hoc requests. Cash Operations - APAC: Manage a team responsible for processing all cash instructions (payment and pre-advice) received via SWIFT and faxes in APAC region. PROJECTS Completed: 1. Data Extraction Tool for MT970s - enhanced for upload to TLM: - BNY Mellon Frankfurt (BR04) reconciles NOSTRO accounts in TLM. External statements arrive via MT950/940 and are matched with internal ledgers generated in IMMS. However, the correspondent EBA (European Banking Authority) provides statements in form of MT970 which do not conform with TLM's feed configuration. The current process is to manually compare internal IMMS data with extracted external MT970 data: - The IMMS data is scraped via WWAToolsHE from MMST to Excel. - CVS file is provided with extracted MT970 data. A more automated reconciliation is necessary to eliminate human error and improve time management. The idea is to improve transparency, have business continuity processes in place, reduce human error and increase reporting capabilities. The enhanced MT970 extraction tool will produce data in a format that can be uploaded to TLM. 2. Excel macro to aid selecting N number of entries in recon system:-Reconciler needs to select breaks/items one by one which consumes time & similar reference breaks get selected wrongly, by using this macro into recon system multiple entries get selected correctly & within few minutes which resulted into increasing accuracy & efficiency. 3. Bank Account Review/Proofing: - BNY Mellon needs to reconcile & report all the accounts which are open at Sub custodian. Depository was created to keep the track of all the sub account & make sure that all accounts are opened in BNY Mellon's book of account & reported out correctly. 4. Narration Updation:- Employee needs to manually update the narration (Gatekeeper Status in FoxPro database) of the break received from the various business groups which was automated with the help of technology which resulted into saving of couple of FTE's. 5. Auto matching & Sourcing: - Manual intervention was eliminated by performing analyses/defects of the daily work performed by the employee which resulted in increasing efficiency, saving cost by requiring less number of staff to complete the same work.
