My histories of strategic development, improving operational efficiencies, and financial development are, core competencies representative of my executive leadership. My athletic background includes numerous awards as a college soccer player. In looking at the vacancy announcement and salary, I believe my experiences align with competencies needed for successful leadership.
I have been a cause driven leader in executive leadership for over 20 years. My experience includes having budget responsibilities for as much as $13.5m. My involvement and collaborations with numerous community initiatives led to strengthening alliances with audiences targeted in our strategic plans. My recognition as an Eagle Award Finalist for Excellence in Fund Raising by the North American Youth Development Organization established programs built through increases in annual donations. These programs have supported thousands of families. I have personally secured $1.5m in annual donations, $2.4m in grants, and led capital campaigns totaling $15m, of which I secured $2.7m.
As appointed by the Governor of Virginia, twice, to the Industrial Development Authority, I was responsible for assisting in economic development initiatives that created jobs, examined investments, and promoted economic growth by recruiting new businesses, expanding existing industries, and growing small businesses. As Treasurer, I monitored a budget of $2.5m and investments of over $44m.
Understanding how staff competencies are tied to operational efficiencies has been key to my successes. My experience in training and leadership development programs for 6 years as a national coach has allowed me to look at the leadership needs of professional staff. Through this work, I lead my staff and leaders across the country in addressing their core competencies and selected area of growth. Volunteer recruitment, development, and retaining are also areas of particular strength acquired with this work.
With responsibilities mentioned in the vacancy announcement of project management, strategic planning, housing/urban development, program development and evaluation, plus my ability to influence others from a centralized position will be an asset. I was the only CEO in the YMCA leading three independent organizations simultaneously. It was essential in my role to be accessible to staff, volunteers, and members in order to be knowledgeable about association needs. For our strategic plans to be successful, I regularly communicated with and directed those who were responsible for our strategic outcomes.
