Description
COVER LETTER: To Whom It May Concern, My name is Donna Coleman-Coker. I am seeking an opportunity to advance in my chosen career field as an elementary teacher. The opportunity to provide students with the tools to become self-disciplined, creative, successful contributors of their communities as well as to provide an academic foundation on which to establish future success is not only an awesome opportunity, but a great challenge. However, I believe the greatest rewards in life tend to result from harvesting the seeds of great challenges. It is an honor to help set the foundation for a young child's future success. "If you can dream it, you can do it"! I write this statement on my board the first day of school and don't erase it until the last day. I do this to encourage my students to believe in themselves and even at this young age to begin to think of future success. In fact, each day I choose a ''grad student of the day". This student earns the opportunity to wear my cap and gown all day by putting forth their best effort both academically and behaviorally. It is a way of rewarding the students who are self-motivated to do their best with hopes that it will encourage those who tend to misbehave and neglect their work to do better. It works well as all of my students want the opportunity to wear my cap and gown! My philosophy of education is based on a statement I have borrowed from the great German poet Goethe, who said, "If you treat a man as though he is what he potentially can be, you will make him what he should be". I teach my students (my grads) that GRADS are "Great Readers Are Destined to Succeed"! Every time I step into my classroom, I'm sowing a seed in the lives of the students for whom I'm responsible. I want to sow the seeds of hope! I'm asking you for an opportunity to continue to grow as an educator and mentor of students whom I believe can one day fit their own cap and gown through encouragement, respect, and patience as well as the necessary academic resources. I will appreciate your prompt response and your consideration of my application. I may be contacted at the email address or phone number listed on the attached resume. Thank you! Sincerely, Donna Coleman-Coker, MA. OBJECTIVE: To educate and inspire students to become self-disciplined, critically thinking individuals who are able to make positive choices and recognize how those choices impact where they are and where they potentially could be! * Deeply committed to broadening experience and expertise in teaching and mentoring students to dream and to reach their full academic potential. * Deeply committed to providing tutoring services to students in need of those services. * Experienced in developing lesson plans, modifying instruction and activities to accommodate students' learning needs.
