Career of Improving Finance and Accounting Functions THE FOOD PROJECT, INC. Lincoln, MA: A not-for-profit organization operating at the intersection of food, youth and community through sustainable agriculture and youth empowerment. DIRECTOR OF FINANCE, HUMAN RESOURCES AND OPERATIONS, 2013 - 2017 Oversees all accounting and human resources including payroll for permanent, temporary and seasonal staff ranging from 30 to over 100 employees. Manages the three million dollar operating budget for all locations, including timely financial statement and variance reporting to the Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees. Directly interfaces with Auditors, Audit Committee, Finance Committee and Board of Trustees. Established and monitors internal controls in order to assure financial compliance. Converted financial records from modified cash to accrued accounting to provide users of financial statements with a more accurate accounting of day-to-day cost of operations. Converted the financial closing process from Quarterly to Monthly to provide more timely information to the Finance Committee and Board of Trustees. Converted financial software from QuickBooks to Intacct to help provide better outcomes tracking. Oversees Information Technology consultants to monitor cost and assure data integrity. Member of the six-person Executive Committee responsible for the review of operating results, making recommendations, and participating in the decision-making surrounding fundraising, marketing, programming and operations. Oversees Human Resources including securing attractive benefit plans, candidate search, new hire background checks and orientation and payroll. Works closely with counsel to assure compliance with all Labor laws and other Human Resources regulations.
