Description
My 29 years in leadership positions with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) of the U.S. Department of Justice have expanded and strengthened my knowledge of and experience with policing tactics, intricacies of police work and approaches. I have a strong record of building organizations and supervising agents in their investigations/handling/prevention of criminal activities at all levels. A particular strength is my ability to bring together groups of disparate individuals from multiple law enforcement agencies with the goal of arriving at consensus on methods to be used, resources to be engaged and ultimate desirable outcomes. My work during Hurricane Katrina and in other high-risk areas demonstrated my ability to gather resources within law enforcement and supporting agencies to plan for short- and long-range concerns. I have successfully led organizations, leading by example and staying familiar and current with all relevant functions, from HR to finance, from training to investigations. I have built a reputation based on integrity and hard work, combined with knowing my job and involving others in decision-making. Sincerely, Charles E. Smith
