Career Summary Multi-lingual Professional Engineer specialized in the successful implementation of mechanical design, construction and project management fields (EPCM) with proven expertise in the Pharmaceutical, Consumer Products, Institutional and Commercial fields. Exceptional leadership, communication and teambuilding skills in diverse cultural settings, which maximize projects' team productivity. * iiefined Projects' Scope of Facilities and Scope of Work from conceptual to execution of multimillion dollar projects. Prepared bid proposals including project milestone schedules, definition of project functional organization chart, resource loading and budget estimates for capital appropriations. * Managed projects' scope changes and design/construction conflicts by effective interdisciplinary production coordination among the design/construction/commissioning teams and the client. My involvement included, all design disciplines (Architecture, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Process, Instrumentation and Electrical engineering) as well as the many different mechanical construction disciplines. * Responsible for Cost Control of project, to meet allotted design budget. * Responsible for Complete Project implementation schedule from Inception to Validation. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Micro Soft Project, Word, Power Point and Excel. /3 Adel Farid, P.E. Professional Achievements Professional Achievements * Successfully managed to ensure compliance with ANSI as well as client standards of all safety showers and eye-wash stations located within the entire Procter & Gamble's (P&G) plant in Cayey, Puerto Rico. * Successfully completed the value Engineering study of the Micro and Analytical laboratories at P&G's plant in Cayey, Puerto Rico. My efforts achieved a reduction of almost 50% of the HVAC construction cost of the project bringing it in within the allotted budget. * Provided substantial savings in both cost as well as execution times of Bermudez & Longo-Diaz Masso (BLDM, ) - the largest MEP contractor in Puerto Rico (PR ) through the integration of Revit (BIM) as an essential step that now makes part of the standard construction process. This effort translated into substantial savings in the high cost of re-work that a well coordinated set of design documents offers. In addition to the benefits obtained from a proper coordination between trades, I also wanted to use the power of Revit to develop isometrics to be used for a non existent in house pipe fabrication shop. This was the first application of Revit MEP in Puerto Rico. * Successfully set-up, start-up and temporarily managed a new pipe fabrication and welding shop for BLDM to make possible the pre-fabrication of pipe spools generated by Revit. I remained under contract for a little over a year until the shop's shop's SOP's were set in place. The integration of the Pipe Fabrication Shop within BLDM Mechanical Department operational procedures lowered the Mechanical Construction Department's pipe fabrication efficiency by almost one third (from an average of 1.8 MCA to 0.7 MCA). * Successfully managed to close down (punch list completion, ) of the San Juan Bay Sheraton Hotel. I was contracted by BLDM to take over this task at approximately 60% completion stage. The project suffered from many inter-disciplinary conflicts, the sub-contractors were complaining about the amount of re-work and the threat a stoppage of work until owed compensation was met loomed big. I was given a free hand to correct design conflicts (many, ) on-site, monitor change order requests, and coordinate/supervise all mechanical sub-contractors until 100% completion of their assigned Scope of work (SOW.) * Successfully performed the production management functions of UNIPRO's Mechanical design department, of over twenty people. Staffed the department as needed, recruited and tutored recent graduate engineers, formed balanced teams of engineer (s), designers and draftspersons, distributed the work-load among them and ensured compliance with budget constraints and execution schedule. * Integral part of the formation of a thriving MEP department within a large A/E firm (CGR, ) as Assistant to the Director of Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Head. I staffed, helped train, managed departmental production efficiency and designed my own projects as well. * Performed energy audits and building energy studies for potential energy savings. /3 Adel Farid, P.E. Professional Capabilities Statement of Capabilities: * Marketing and contract negotiation with pharmaceutical, federal and architectural clients including business presentation, proposal preparation and contract negotiation. * Mechanical Engineering Department Management. * Engineering Design and Project management/production Coordination * QA/QC review of design/construction documents. * Performance of value engineering studies. * Management of Multi-disciplinary Engineering design firm * Design/Built Project Management including supervision of design phase, Construction Management and up to project turn over, EPCM (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management) * HVAC System design (Process and Non-Process) * Utilities Piping/Plumbing Design (Non-Process) * Fluent in English Spanish, and French conversational in Egyptian. /1 Adel Farid, P.E. I was later promoted to the position of production manager. During this part of my career I had the opportunity to familiarize myself with the particular needs and design requirements of the pharmaceutical industry, for both their HVAC and utilities (dirty) piping systems. This added a new dimension to my previous mechanical design experience by exposing me to Process HVAC design including Parenteral Clean Rooms Facilities ranging from class 100 to 100,000.
