COVER LETTER: Dear Hiring Manager Enclosed you will find my resume. As a new Special Education teacher, I have developed a passion and personal commitment to helping my students to succeed. I feel that my background as an educator is a perfect match for the position. I have worked at Fashion Industries High School, as a one-to-one SETSS teacher to modify all projects, class assignments and performance assessments for all core subjects in the curriculum for one student. I collaborated daily with a team of professionals including: the general education instructors, health para-professional, assistive technology service provider, and one-to-one math instructor, in order to help this student to achieve academic success. Some examples of the services that I have provided include: note taker, altering instructional materials, and designing a behavior management plan. I have received positive feedback from the parent, and fellow educators alike for my abilities in the classroom while working with this student. My teaching style demonstrates dedication to fostering a positive learning environment while incorporating opportunities for students to engage in Role Plays. I believe that the world needs people who have skills that go beyond mere knowledge of facts. Role playing allows students to engage in performance art would activate the kinds of skills needed to become flexible, creative, rational thinkers. Using role play in education, I feel, is the best way to develop the skills of communication, problem-solving, self-awareness, and working cooperatively in teams which will help young people be prepared for dealing with challenges that they will face in the future. I am confident that my background and relevant experience will be a valuable asset working in this setting and I look forward to the opportunity to discuss this position further. Thank you for your time and attention. Sincerely, Cynthia J. Gray
