SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE June 2008 to August 2017: City of Las Vegas (retired from public service August 2, 2017) Director of Building and Safety * Manage all Building and Safety Department services from inspections and plans examination to administrative functions. * Manage and develop Department goals, objectives, policies and priorities. * Establish appropriate service and staffing levels and allocate resources accordingly. * Plan, direct and coordinate the Department's work plan through subordinate supervisors assign areas of responsibility and meet with management staff to identify and resolve problems. * Serve as the City's Building Official in the administration of City Council adopted codes and ordinances for building construction. * Interact with community groups, citizens and businesses associated with building development including planning and design, inspections and code applications. * Represent the City and the Department, as the Building Official to other City Departments, Elected Officials, outside agencies and organizations. * Review and set Department position on legislative matters at the State Legislature related to Building and Safety. * Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints. * Oversee the development and administration of the Department Budget including forecast of revenues and expenses (including staffing) of the Building and Safety Enterprise Fund to achieve the staffing levels, goals and objectives identifies earlier, including review, proposal and presentation to City Council of any fee adjustments for services and permits. * Select, motivate and evaluate Department personnel including establishing performance requirements, personal development targets, coaching and providing appropriate training opportunities.
