Description
COVER LETTER: Dear Sir/Madam, I am interested in the post of Secretary in the Trade and Agriculture Section of the EU Delegation, as I strongly believe I would be a contribution to the team with both my professional and life experience and competencies. Prior to my arrival to the United States as a spouse of a diplomat and being on paternity leave, I worked in the IT business for almost 20 years. My responsibilities were not solely based on my education, yet other soft skills, such as communication, adaptability, leadership and management. In the course of my professional career, I worked both in Europe and the United States, as an employee of T Mobile and Ericsson Nikola Tesla, Croatian branches of international companies. That experience enabled me to get acquainted with and later master private sector environment and its operations. My familiarity and interest in the European Union, its political and administrative framework, was primarily founded on my wife's career and her interests that were closely related to the EU affairs. In this day and age, in the era of globalization, you are expected to be able to work in constantly changing environments, with counterparts from all over the World, which was a regular mode of operation in my case. In a number of occasions, I was engaged in complex problem solving, working with and as a part of international teams and under tight deadlines and under pressure to deliver a product and services to a customer. All of my professional correspondence was done in English, and needless to say, my computer skills are / 5 excellent. I am a resourceful/clever/adept/quick-witted person, which I proved through my work and additional interests and hobbies, I am capable of finding ways in areas that are not of my specific telecommunication expertize, but which included planning, organizing, managing people and assignments. I am a proactive person, striving for the best results, responsible for my actions. I strongly believe we are learning throughout our lives, and I am neither afraid of new challenges nor reluctant to take on tasks of various character or work long hours until tasks are completed. My dedication to my work and other responsibilities is not compromised with my cheerful character, but complementary to it. Coming from Europe and strongly believing in idea behind EU, I am very motivated in helping your team in every and any aspect. Since this is Trade and Agriculture Section it might be worth mentioning that both of my parents grew on farms. First vehicle that I was driving was tractor and first money earned was on farmers market with my late grandmother. I am looking forward to be a part of the EU DEL international team. Sincerely, Igor Feketija
