As a journalist and marketing professional, I am passionate in encouraging people to help others while changing themselves for the better. I have built a reputation of creating campaigns that promote and change people's perceptions of difficult issues. Two of my biggest challenges were those of promoting organ donation in the Latino and African-American communities for Illinois' Gift of Hope Foundation and raising awareness and creating discussion of domestic abuse issues in the Latino community. The stories I profiled for Gift of Hope entailed extensive contact with people doctors, families medical staff as well as the patients themselves. My body of work for Gift of Hope was the production of almost 100 30-minute shows which aired on Univision and Telemundo as well as 6 public service announcements (PSAs) talking about the importance of saving lives though organ donation. These messages were received well enough to double the number of registering donors and also brought forth 2 Emmy nominations (and one win). . In 2014 I created the a public service campaign "Stop the Silence -- Not One More Victim" to promote community awareness of the problems of domestic abuse. The campaign received the attention of local Chicago businesses and was displayed prominently in Chicago buses, trains and bus stops. The campaign was honored last fall with an Emmy award.
