SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS * Over 30 years of increasingly broad experience in Information Technology supporting faculty and staff to work more effectively and efficiently in a university and hospital setting. * Manager and System Administrator for the Information Technology Services and Data Center for the UAB Division of Gerontology and Geriatric, and Palliative Care and the Comprehensive Center for Healthy Aging. * Maintain daily operations for Windows server infrastructure and components. * Ensure all HIPPA, PHI, university policies, compliance level and security measures are enforced. * Perform risk assessments and IT audits. * Provide log monitoring and firewall protection. * Plan and create disaster recovery and backup procedures for IT data center. * Represent Division and Center in development of university-wide policies and procedures. * Provide IT strategic planning recommendations to administration emphasizing costs, benefits, risks, and contingencies. * Worked with the UAB hospital and Veterans Affairs security office to review existing policies and procedures. * Manage, train, and supervise a team of IT employees focused on providing systems, network, security, and technical support. * Design and maintain IIS web sites for the Division, Center, and research projects. * Perform penetration testing on all web applications. * Design and develop customized software applications for NIH - and AHRQ - funded research projects. * Implement Crystal Report system connecting to our SQL server to produce reports and graphs for web applications. * Analyze data using SAS, SPSS, and SamplePower for several NIH-funded research projects. * Communicate with faculty and staff on IT needs and developments. * Train employees in use of software applications. * Evaluate and recommend hardware and software purchases. * Keep current with new developments in the IT/Systems/Security/Research field.
