PROFILE * Produced and led the adaptation and/or adoption of updated regional and national guidelines, training Manuals and booklets on HIV, AIDS care and support to scale-up ART treatment, counselling and social support for use in the African Region as Regional Nursing Adviser for Human Resources Development for Nursing, Midwifery and paramedical Personnel, WHO Regional Office, Brazzaville, Congo. * Coordinated national adaptation and adoption of regional policy guidelines for standard setting and better coordination of partners. (Public, private and civil society groups). Initiated planning in the region and among NGO partners to mobilize technical and financial resources for support to activities aimed at achieving the strategic objectives of governing bodies of WHO, Resolutions of World Health Assembly and Executive Board (WHA, EB) and Regional Committees as they pertain to strengthening health systems. * Guided the facilitation in training of health workers and community volunteers in the provision of HIV, AIDS clinic, home and community based care including the integration of palliative care, TB, reproductive health, counselling, psychosocial and spiritual support, clinical monitoring and management of opportunistic infections and other HIV and AIDS related conditions. * Designed with countries infection prevention and control (IPC) health services assessment and development of workplace safety programmes for the prevention of HIV and other nosocomial infections and blood borne diseases. * Initiated and collaborated with national, United Nations (UN), Faith Based (FBO) and nongovernmental (NGO) healthcare teams in undertaking operational research in the areas of HIV/AIDS care and support, health services needs and human resources for health requirements particularly within primary health care /public health services. Emphasis on task shifting as a multi-sectoral approach to scaling-up Anti-retroviral therapy (ART) and strengthening health systems, education and training. * Designed, promoted, facilitated and monitored capacity building activities for the introduction and institutionalization of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support educational modules into nursing and paramedical education. * Spearheaded successfully as a Public Health Nursing Advisor collaborative activities with other health services planning and management units /programmes and partners on policy development with emphasis on a public health approach to a coordinated response for scaling-up HIV/TB community and home- based care management (including provision of services for the HIV negative and AIDS patients.) * Employed as the Technical Officer performed key tasks in the capacity as adviser to the WHO Liaison Officer for designing, planning and implementing HIV/AIDS with National and International UNAIDS Theme Groups. Drafted proposals for resource mobilization and Human Resources development working directly with the HIV/AIDS Directorate of the Ministry of Health, the Head of the Sub-Directorate for Care and support to develop the National HIV/AIDS Care program. Emphasis on the development of policy guidelines and training for Nurse managers and other cadres of health care supervisors implementing the National Community/Home -based care program in South Africa.
