Description
E-mail: Functionalization of carbon nanotubes and graphenes for different applications Designed a convenient synthetic route to make water soluble PEGylated single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) for drug delivery applications. * Invented a scheme to form carboxylated SWNT-polyethyleneimine complex, which can be potentially used for regenerable CO2 removal (GREEN Chemistry) in human spaceflight (in collaboration with NASA). * Designed a patented synthetic scheme to drive the metal assisted in-situ polymerization of the monomers on the nanotube surface toward fabrication of polyamide Nanocomposites (stronger than Kevlar). * Developed a methodology for continuous seeded-growth of carbon nanotubes and syntheses of higher fullerene hydrides for hydrogen storage (in collaboration with late Dr. R. E. Smalley, Rice University). * Involved in multi-step small molecule syntheses of strained ring compounds (i.e. triafulvalenes, fulvalenes). cjayanta@gmail.com Phone: (832) 264-0011
