The curating of furniture from vintage to custom has become my specialty. I thrive on finding the perfect piece of furniture, or the spectacular chandelier that will define a space and lift it out of ordinary into extraordinary. Back-ground: Designs by Maida, Inc. was started in my basement 28 years ago and has grown into an award winning Design/Build firm specializing in space planning, interior curating, furniture and lighting design and project management. Having come from a multi-generational family of four construction companies, my background in construction, furniture, and textile design have given me a unique perspective on home design and decorating. I possess a strong architectural perspective of space and this has enhanced my ability to see space uniquely and with fresh eyes. I never think a problem can't be solved - I always believe a solution is behind the curtain waiting to be discovered. I search tenaciously for the perfect elements to complete a design from fabric to furnishings to rugs, all with the purpose of bringing a fresh element into a project. I have access to worldwide design resources, capable of creating solutions from across the country where collaboration is key and relationships are the foundation for finding the perfect pieces. I believe in an eclectic approach where period design mixed in with contemporary design makes a unique and personal statement for any home. I have a strong back-ground in custom window treatments, custom pillows and bedding and soft goods of any kind. I had a workroom for 18 years and designed many collections for hundreds of projects across the Chicago area. I designed collections that were showcased in a shop I owned in Woodstock on the historic square for nine years. My desire was to create exception soft goods unlike any other on the market. From roman blinds to sumptuous draperies I have a knowledge of both fabrics and trims that is broad and deep.
