Description
Major Accomplishments Supervised Engineering Department at a 1125 Megawatt Power Station The department with 4 plant engineers, 3 instrument technicians, and 1 technical service clerk is responsible for budgeting and implementing capital improvement projects, installing and maintaining performance testing equipment to aid in EPA reporting and daily production efficiency. Implemented a Predictive Maintenance Program This program in conjunction with the original equipment manufacturers and plant maintenance would schedule plant equipment outages for maintenance. Through the use of vibration monitoring and performance testing, equipment could be scheduled for corrective maintenance when materials were on hand and system load would allow. Redesigned a Major Material Handling System Through the incorporation of two adjacent systems with minor capital investment major operational and maintenance problems with boiler bottom ash were reduced or eliminated. Improved Induced Draft Fan Capacity Redesigned Induced Daft Fan inlet vanes by eliminating the spoilers to allow greater flow capacities. The increase capacity resulted in an increase of 25 Megawatts on each of the three 500 Megawatt Units. Redesigned Heat Recovery Boiler with induced draft fans which allowed the boiler to continued operation upon loss of combustion turbine.
