Various Positions including final Hired to add expertise to new start up surety operation in the areas of underwriting, policy creation and implementation, marketing, training, office organization and management, and production capabilities. Since joining this team, I have created underwriting guidelines, policies and procedures, created and implemented filing structure and system, assisted in online processing tool creation, online filing system, overall office management while balance of the team is on the road, as well as produced business. I am handling day to day underwriting for most of the to-date acquired business. $25 million book of business with $100 million + in underwriting authority. position: Responsibilities included direct control of regional office profit center including but not limited to budgeting production underwriting and analysis of all size contract surety exposures and maintained $30 million in underwriting authority. Work directly in conjunction with home office and other business group leaders. Secures all business through independent agent network. Territory encompasses Maryland District of Columbia Delaware central and eastern Pennsylvania. Responsible for hiring and managing staff. Maintain staff of three underwriters in Baltimore MD and three underwriters in Philadelphia PA with support staff in each office. Responsible for complete book re-underwriting upon my arrival in October of 2010. Production budgets have been in the $40 million range and growing. Prior to arriving in Baltimore in 2010 I maintained an SRVP position in Denver CO as well as a senior underwriting position in the Baltimore field office where I grew a $500,000 book of business to just under $6 million by landing one of the largest general contractors based in Baltimore and helping to re-establish Zurich in the Baltimore/Washington marketplace at that time.
