Description
facility Provided operational and manufacturing leadership to APD team in the areas of design for manufacturability, process development and training, manufacturing and pilot builds, cell layouts, kaizen events, quality documentation and all other manufacturing deliverables. -Worked collaboratively with quality, regulatory affairs, DBS, and all operating divisions to develop operations budget and timeline, address pre-launch risk, and resolve post-launch problems. -Led joint effort with R&D to introduce 2nd generation International Whip Arm and Rear Delivery Unit. Project incorporated component parts being partially assembled at various raw material suppliers located in low cost regions, while using currently expensed fasteners for final assembly. Efforts saved parts, labor, unique assembles, and floor space, slashing overall production cost by $500,000 annually. -Worked with design engineer on major overhaul project to replace 12 highly inflated products not benefiting from high returns with a single state of the art product with 3 variations supporting both domestic and international markets and incurring 52% margin of sales. -Executed a strategic manufacturing revitalization plan to turn around a poorly performing and stagnant chair and unit production line produced in Des Plaines, IL and relocate production to Charlotte, NC, while removing all waste from manufacturing operations. -Streamlined work processes of underperforming unit in Des Plaines, IL. Reduced chair assembly from an 8hr process to 2hrs and 36mins incorporating 1-piece flow with 6 level-loaded stations producing at 26 minutes per station, a reduction of 67.5% cycle time. by 1900 sq. ft. while combining assembly and inventory staging.
