Description
QUALIFICATIONS - Designed, developed, and executed the first and currently only successful method of gene deletion in the previously genetically intractable obligate intracellular pathogen Chlamydia trachomatis (mBio Editors' Pick, 7 (1):e01817-15) - Established a variety of new methods including chlamydial matings, chlamydial gene-expression knockdowns, in vivo observation of bacterial toxin translocation into host cells, and mutation screening by qPCR and with high-content-screening equipment (Thermo ArrayScan VTI) - Expert at cloning techniques: generated 400+ constructs using an array of approaches utilizing restriction enzymes, insertion/deletion PCR, and Gibson Assembly - Extensive experience using a variety of established methods (protein, nucleic acid, HPLC/FPLC, microarray, next-generation sequencing, cloning) and handling diverse biological samples (animal models, plants, callus, tissue culture, phage, bacteria, including pathogens- BSL 2) - Six years of experience managing projects and training staff - Numerous publications in a variety of journals including mBio, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Cellular Microbiology, Infection and Immunity, PLoS One, and Journal of Bacteriology - Excellent education and presentation skills: multiple 1st-place presentation awards, presented data at international conferences including at Oxford, England Geneva, Switzerland Lindau, Germany
