MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS * Developed and implemented a new financial reporting book (with on-line version) for the Board of Directors, focusing on geographic and franchise segmentation. * Developed a new Business Plan and Long Range/Strategic Plan process including a installation of a Worldwide Planning/Reporting System for collection/analysis of actual, estimates and full year and long range plans. Enabled a 40% reduction in collection/consolidation time and a 50% reduction in IT costs. * Developed and implemented a Operational/Financial Scorecard enabling the CEO and the Board of Directors to monitor Key Performance indicators (KPI's) linked to the compensation system. Implemented marketing and clinical area scorecards areas focusing on quantitative/qualitative KPI's linked to the Company Scorecard. * Reduced worldwide marketing services and clinical costs by approximately $100M/7% in the areas of storage, procurement, marketing symposia, clinical supplies, market research projects and other project synergies. * Established a new finance product support group and analytics for the Chief Marketing Officer and Research President, as the company moved from a region-based to a matrix franchise/region structure. Enabled newly appointed General Managers to manage products from development to patent expiry. * Developed and implemented new financial analyses contributing approximately $8B in sales ($.5B above plan) by optimizing the use of resources from product and country perspectives and state-of-the-art pricing analysis. * Completed all SEC financial requirements for the $7B purchase of Medco, a pharmacy benefits management company. Collaborated with internal/external attorneys to complete all due diligence requirements. Worked on a multitude of other company and compound acquisitions and licensing arrangements, maximizing the terms and acquisition price for the Company through valuation and pricing alternatives. * Implemented a Shared Services group for the company's Procure-to-Pay function, consolidating all US locations, Canada and Puerto Rico, and outsourcing several manual functions. Actions led to a 40% reduction in staff. * Developed sophisticated financial analyses utilizing state-of-the-art modeling to optimize the clinical portfolio and sales across products and regions based on various variables including investment return, size of opportunity, synergies and time to market. Presented recommendations to Senior Marketing and Research management. * Developed and implemented a four day Finance training course for new and existing employees which encompassed the finance function, career opportunities, policies and procedures, processes and IT systems.
