COVER LETTER: Regards To Whom It May Concern: This is a letter of recommendation for Dr. Roy G. Jones. He has been a principal in our school system for 12 years. I have known Roy as the Superintendent of the school district. Dr. Jones would be an outstanding candidate for an administrative position. His credentials and achievements are a matter of record and will demonstrate his commitment to students and his profession. His record would also demonstrate his ability to be successful in any position that he seeks. Dr. Jones has always given that extra on any task he has been assigned. He is very thorough in performing his job duties and assignments. His background provides him with the necessary skills that allow him to use his experiences successfully in any endeavor. He is someone who always gives that extra effort to any project that he attempts. In addition, he is very enthusiastic and motivated. Roy accepts all challenges and does that little bit extra on every project. Dr. Jones has served as a high school principal, and currently serves as a coordinator of our alternative school, day report center, and our high school collaborative college program. He worked with a local university to facilitate the progress of our high school program on the college campus. Dr. Jones redefined the evening alternative program and worked to make it very successful for students. He worked closely with the day report alternative program to build the program to the first of its kind in West Virginia. Finally, Dr. Jones is the ideal candidate for any level of administration. He is highly motivated, professional, and knowledgeable in his ability to lead and get the job done. His education, teaching, and administrative experiences will be an asset to him while working to accomplish his goal to one day lead a school district. In the past, he has demonstrated his ability to articulate information and ideas that have proven to be successful. Your consideration of his application is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Ron Duerring I am writing this letter at the request of Dr. Roy G. Jones. It is my pleasure to provide a letter of recommendation for this talented and accomplished young man. As a psychologist and part-time administrator, I have worked with Dr. Jones in several settings at Kanawha County Schools. His abilities to administrate and direct programs from inception to final outcome have been exceptional and recognized throughout the school system. His visionary concepts to develop programs to meet the need of diverse populations have resulted in successful interventions in our educational system. Additional areas of Dr. Jones professional strengths also include a mastery of understanding the people that work under his administration. He has strong perceptional skills in dealing with personnel that have developed loyalties to his methods and practices. He has the gift of creating a working environment that people seem to respond to with dedication and interest. I recommend Dr. Roy G. Jones unconditionally and without hesitation for employment in your school district. He would be a tremendous asset to any program that hires him. Sincerely, John C. Stayer To Whom It May Concern: Re: Dr. Roy G. Jones, ED. D. As an educator and psychologist, I have known and worked closely with Dr. Jones in the Kanawha County Schools District for several years. In this capacity, I have had the unique opportunity to become acquainted with Dr. Jones's educational philosophy in designing successful student academic achievement plans and in assisting his students to complete their educational goals. He has worked with architects to conceptualize, design and ultimately build a school specifically to be under his administration. Dr. Jones's staff and the community at large are fully aware of his firm advocacy toward increasing student graduation rates. He has designed programs toward this end, and continues to inspire his students to overcome academic and motivational challenges toward this end. On an interpersonal level, Dr. Jones takes an involved proactive stance in seeking to encourage both his staff and his students to reach their highest potential. Dr. Jones is a warm and compassionate person who is both forthright and discerning. He is well respected and loved by his staff. Several of his staff members have mentioned how, by the tone Dr. Jones sets in the building, they feel comfortable in approaching him about teaching issues and concerns they may have and that, through his leadership, their teaching experience has become much more rewarding. He has created an atmosphere of combined openness and accountability with his teachers and staff members. Most especially, I have witnessed the firm, but tender heart he has displayed in his efforts to improve his students' academics and behaviors, and this alone has contributed to creating a very deep sense of loyalty and commitment in his teaching staff toward him. There is no doubt that he fully gives of himself to his students and staff members. I am pleased to recommend him as an excellent and well-respected administrator. Sincerely, Janice Moss To Whom It May Concern: It is with great pleasure that I write to you concerning Dr. Roy G. Jones' transitioning to your school district. In his position as my direct administrator, I experienced his concern for staff and students firsthand. Crucial, from his years of educational practice, he encouraged us to and developed a plan for us to connect individually with each of our students each day. Resistant at first, as I began to practice this procedure and log my results, what I initially envisioned as a cumbersome mandate, became the highlight of my day. As Dr. Jones stressed, as I began to build relationships with the students, their engagement in academics blossomed. Always innovative in his vision for progress, Dr. Jones outlined a blended curriculum where we facilitated and monitored students through computer guided instruction, enhanced with hands-on and direct reinforcement. Utilizing these practices, we catered to various learning modalities, and ensured the success of more students. Most appreciated though, Dr. Jones genuinely kept an eye on the personal and professional well- being of all of his staff. Yes, he championed positive student outcomes, but he understood that a healthy, happy, content staff translated into an effective, flourishing system in general. Because of Dr. Jones' leadership, we have been able to refine the behavior and learning of the most challenging students. I know that I speak for the entire staff when I stress respect and fondness for Dr. Jones. We love Dr. Jones because he valued our contributions as educators, but more importantly, he treasured staff and students as people first. With Highest Regard for Dr. Jones, Leola Hairston Leola Hairston, Chandler Academy Educator 304-444-7587
