COVER LETTER: Dear Interview Committee: I was recommended by Mrs. Anita Totty and Mrs. Wilma Taylor-Costen to the Instructional Specialist position. My educational background began in the 1980's with an Early Childhood Credential from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2001 I received a Bachelor of Arts in Family Life Education in 2006 I earned a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix and 2014 completed the academic requirements in a doctorate program in Leadership in Educational Administration from Capella University. After several years as an early childhood educator and administrator with the Head Start program, I enter the elementary level working as a Kindergarten teacher successfully progressing my students from emergent learners to conventional learners assessing ready for first grade and beyond. In 2013, I was asked to transition to teaching the fourth grade and success followed. Through nurturing, caring, effective instruction and my classroom management skills-my fourth graders consistently demonstrating significant academic gains each year. I am known as an affectionate and nurturing educator, known for greeting my parents, students and colleagues with hugs. I was evaluated as a highly distinguish educator by my leadership team. I have earned from the Michigan Association of Public School Academies/Teacher Excellent and Academic Millstones for Students MAPSA (TEAMS Project) scored distinguished in every category evaluated. In 2013 / 2014 and 2014 / 2015 academic years I received "Excellent Teacher" awarded by MAPSA (TEAMS Project). In August 2015 I was presented with the Presidential Award for Professional Practice by MAPSA (TEAMS Project.) As a center administrator, I functioned as a resource and/or trainer for classroom teachers, family service workers, other center staff, and volunteers to ensure expertise with rendering specialized knowledge and services and/or ability groups (e.g., early childhood, toddler, preschool, and school age) I generally had supervisory responsibility observes and monitors classroom activities and children's records reviews and analyzes data on child outcomes.
