Daily Duties at Gulf Oil Corporation:
Field Production Engineer: Recruited from college assigned to North Dakota's Little Knife field. Duties review and revise well diagrams. Assigned to supervision of Central tank battery #2 and one Work-over Rig. Duties included supervision of production operators and roustabouts. Investigate disruptions to continuous production. Implement solutions to disruptions. Repair wells with downhole problems, ie., rod parts, pump failures, tubing parts. Estimate cost of repair and report to production superintendent. Prepare daily production reports and rig operations reports to production superintendent and managing production engineer. Took on additional assignment of pilot testing mass flow meter retrofit of 153 Trainee Drilling Engineer: Assigned to Gulf Training Rig #1. Worked thru all rig floor positions from floor hand to driller. Assigned as assistant tool pusher. Assigned as Assistant Well Supervisor. Attended Drilling Mud School and Drilling engineering School. Assigned to Houston TX office as Mud engineer. Mud Engineer; Assigned to run mud on wells drilled on Texas Gulf Coast. Duties included daily mud checks and daily inventory/cost control. Staff Drilling Engineer: Assigned to Houston office. Duties included special projects for drilling managers meeting including comparison of cement company lab results to Gulf cement company results. Also reported on success of stage cementing in corrosive shallow water wells. Prepared multiple drilling programs for wells in Central Texas and along Texas Gulf Coast, including AFE preparation, logistics, service/material bidding and awards, drilling program preparation, daily transcription of morning reports via phone call.
