Daily Duties at Pacific Telesis:
Designed tracking system for recruiting contracts, saving $2.5 M per year. Represented company at career fairs for both experienced employees, as well as college graduates. Provided and scored standardized testing and interviews for college graduates to determine their possible level of success in the company. When SBC acquired Pacific Telesis, they needed an employee to determine fair salaries for employees that were transferring Midwest to California and vice-versa. I was the Project Manager assigned to determine appropriate remuneration and benefits for relocated employees. Upon completing this task, I was also asked to design a system for standardized external salary offers. Once designed, Senior Leadership asked me to deliver a workshop on this process to the rest of the team during our face-to-face meeting, as well as be the SPOC for questions referring to this topic. Managed move of staff and equipment from San Francisco to San Ramon. The San Ramon space was completely stripped and I worked with construction and Leadership to determine the best use of the space prior to beginning work on the area and ultimately moving the team. In an effort to provide customer service to the uprooted team members, I created and provided Welcome Packages to each newly moved employee to familiarize them with the area. Edited SBC/PacTel brochure and created new layout.
What they like about Pacific Telesis:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
