CollapseDescription

To secure a position at a growing, fiscally sound company in Portland Oregon on or about March 1st 2017. A position in design, estimating, sales, management, business development and expansion or combination of all would be a good fit. I also have many years experience, operating heavy equipment, managing crew, layout & control, installing drainage pipe and structures, water, ductile iron, HDPE, components and utilities. I am physically fit and would enjoy a well paying position as site foreman. Myself * Married 28 years with three grown sons all successfully on their own and two grandsons. I am physically fit and enjoy moderate exercise walking, skiing, surfing, kayaking and nature. We like to travel during the winter season. My History * April 2014 to present happily employed at a large successful paving & site work company in eastern Massachusetts with 60 plus employees and two owners. In addition to field measuring and providing paving quotes to homeowners and businesses, I was charged with developing the site work arm of the business. I did this successfully by providing accurate takeoffs of plans, pricing work that included scope beyond our then level of expertise and then helping to supervise bringing our enhanced crews up to speed for the profitable completion of the projects. My winning bids ranged from 3K to 650K. I brought in 1.4 million my first year and over 2.3 million my second. My efforts as of December 31, 2016 has yielded 3.5 million dollars in work completed or in progress. I worked daily with the company owners to assist in achieving their goals of more profit, company growth and diversity into more site work capabilities. Often, I was tasked with handling successful bidding and completion of jobs that would have required the company owners attention had I not been on board. I analyzed company pricing, created and implemented a new pricing structure that could easily be followed by salespeople. This resulted in more consistent quotes. Until then, pricing varied from sales person to salesperson. It also kept the low profit, difficult jobs off the table. * 1980 - 2013 I owned and operated my own landscape maintenance design & Installation business. I gradually expanded to include site work, eventually doing away with the landscape maintenance. During the hay days of the building boom, I provided landscape installation to home builders as well. One year completing over 140 new home landscapes. As opportunities were presented, I built and sold seven new spec homes. Bid and successfully completed many site work projects from 3K to 1 million dollars. * 1978 - 1980 Graduate of Essex Agricultural College with degree in Horticulture * 1976 - 1977 University of Lowell - Business Major My skills * Quick learner and confident * Meet and interact well with existing & potential customers, engineers & architects * Develop & Analyze paper & PDF plans, provide pricing & scope of work * Proficient with computer technology * Obtain competitive quotes from subcontractors & vendors * Organize and schedule subcontractor services & delivery of materials to jobs * Consult with job supervisors to help them understand the scope of work & timing * Predict problems and work to avoid them * Not afraid to ask for help and clarification * Good listener, offering my constructive opinions whether solicited or not to company owners, supervisors and fellow employees * Provide solutions and comment to resolve day to day challenges * Licensed CDL driver * Equipment operator * Licensed sewer, septic, water and drain layer * OSHA certified * UXO Certified * MCLP Certified * Certified Irrigation Installer * Mechanically inclined
