Knowledge in blood draws with new born, pediatric, and geriatric patients. Determine amount of blood drawn for children according to weight. Skillful and precise in performing venipuncture, capillary, and finger sticks. Excellent patient relation skills, known to having a gentle touch and the ability to alleviate patient anxieties. Phlebotomy Key components: Prepare room for cleanliness and tubes for order of draw before patient is called back into the draw room. Prepare tubes with special requirements protect from light on ice, warmer, etc. Determine straight or butterfly needle's according to the patient needs. Prepare samples for transport by using the centrifuge, refrigerator, and freezer. Very familiar with sensitive and timed specimens according to lab requirements. Knowledge of all specialty test, type and cross, blood cultures, breath tech test etc. Front desk key components: Greet patients. Copy insurance cards. Knowledge in updating patient information and insurance information, Check all lab orders for accuracy before entering in the computer.
