Description
QUALIFICATIONS In my capacity as Director of Public Policy I reviewed and analyzed proposed bills, including the Governor's budget proposals for impacts on families, children, youth and adult consumers of mental health and other public programs. Wrote bill analysis and circulated through our statewide network. I wrote and maintained a bill matrix according to the Public Policy Platform of UACF. I wrote monthly policy and advocacy reports for our stakeholders and statewide network. I hosted a monthly conference call on public policy and published articles regarding public policy in the UACF Quarterly Newsletter, Peer to-Peer Network and Parent to Parent Network. I have met with legislative staff to forward the family, children, youth and adult perspective regarding proposed bills on mental health, substance use disorders, education, and much more. I have a lengthy career as an Advocate in the Children's Mental Health, Special Education, and the Child Welfare field. This includes family advocacy, educating parents/caregivers in parenting skills, coordinating treatment plans with parents of children/youth ages 2-22 years old and consulting services, and collaborating closely with community partners. I am proficient in coaching, training and implementing plans and presenting the family perspective to service providers, educators, law enforcement and legislature to ensure successful treatment and family responsive policies.
