Description
I have over 20 years of experience in employment law, labor relations and human resource management and I am a member of the Michigan and District of Columbia Bars I successfully argued Peden v. City of Detroit Police Dept., 470 Mich 195 (2004), a landmark handicap discrimination case before the Michigan Supreme Court on behalf of the City of Detroit Police Department. I served as lead counsel for the City of Detroit Police Department in regards to its consent decree compliance efforts and assisted in the revision of the Department’s criminal procedures to conform to applicable criminal law, particularly in the areas of arrest, use of force and detainment. I also served as appointed counsel in 36th District Court and retained counsel in Frank Murphy Hall of Justice, Detroit, MI. I co-authored article, “An Overview of Drug Testing and Practical Considerations,” published in the 2004 MPELRA Labor Law Guide. I have served as hearing officer over a major clarification of unit case concerning over 250 Department of Justice employees and issued a major decision on their representational status.
