I have strong organizational skills, the ability to set and plan achievable goals and standards, and long and short-term objectives. I am able to handle a multi-tasked position with strong interpersonal and communication skills. A highly motivated and energetic person, I enjoy a challenge and the excitement of conquering that challenge. In order to keep up with changing trends in the environment, I am a firm advocate of continuing education and updating my knowledge to meet the demands of our changing market. I have completed research projects that have resulted in extensive development of writing skills as well as strong public speaking abilities and presentations. I have been employed in management for 38 years, with Delhaize/Food Lion/Bloom Banner for 8 years, Shoppers for 18 years and with Bon Foods/Bonus for 12 years. During my last 38 years of employment, all my positions have been in a managerial capacity. Past duties have consisted of creating yearly operational objectives, instituting and enforcement of Human Resources policy initiatives, HEPPA instruction and guidance to all associates, monthly and weekly projections of business trends utilizing Microsoft programs, also of creating spread sheets in order to track and gather statistics, these included department percentage goals, gross profits, and payroll goals. General store operations, consisting of directing support managers and associates, communication with supervision, and maintaining general store appearance, safety and cleanliness. I have implemented standards and programs to control shrink and inventories for all departments. I also currently volunteer as a Living Historian depicting a Civil War / Colonial Surgeon. I have worked at numerous Parks, Schools and Museums throughout Virginia, including but not exclusively: Quantico Marine Base, Fort AP Hill, Weems-Botts Museum, Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia, Gettysburg, and Camp Barker in Washington DC.
