Profile An industry-wide recognized expert in the conceptualization and development of drugs and drug - eluting medical device platforms. I am a published authority in thrombosis, cardiovascular/renal disease, hypertension and metabolic diseases with more than 50 publications and patents. I have a broad and accomplished in drug discovery research as a Principal and Distinguished R e s e a r c h Fellow, Project Leader and Program Head. I've led groups that were instrumental in the development of numerous marketed drugs. I left was the International Project Leader for the cholesterol lowering drugs Lescol David S. Cohen, Ph.D. Resume 1 and Pitavastatin. I was the Novartis Pharmaceutical Corporation Drug-Eluting Device Project Leader and a Cardiovascular/Metabolic Diseases clinical research and development scientific expert. In 2004, I was promoted to Principal Medical Scientific Expert in Cardiovascular and Metabolic c l i n i c a l research and development. In that position, I represented Novartis Clinical Devlopment in the evaluation of multiple in-licensing, out-licensing, and merger/acquisition opportunities specializing in clinical need, marketing opportunities and corporate business strategies. I identified Guidant Corporation as the most capable partner for the use of the Novartis drug everolimus in a drug -eluting stent (DES) platform. This has resulted in the Abbott-Vascular (formerly Guidant Vascular) Xience V, Xience Prime, a n d A b s o r b DES platforms and the Boston Scientific Promus E l e m e n t DES. These devices have taken more than 60% of the ~ $10.0 billion. worldwide DES market. I was involved in seven out-licensing DES programs. My efforts helped Novartis receive, billions of dollars in milestone payments and royalties as well as an ongoing a n n u a l royalty stream. I also identified multiple drug/medical device opportunities in the areas of heart failure, oncology, peripheral vascular disease, surgical adjuncts, ocular disease, and orthopedics.
