Dear Sir/Madam: I have been in private practice for 15 years now and I’m looking for an opportunity that will bring me not only challenges professionally but personally as well. My emphasis in private practice includes elective and trauma cases with a special emphasis upon diabetic education and wound care with a special interest in Charcot reconstruction and limb salvage. I have a background in trauma of the foot and ankle from both my residency and private practice and my research activities during residency and private practice have included diabetes, sports medicine, biomechanics and trauma. While involved in research at the Temple University College of Podiatric Medicine, I helped write several grant applications to the NIH and the APMA under Howard Hillstrom, Ph.D. I enjoy teaching as noted in my résumé, and was an associate clinical professor of medicine through the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio when I had my practice in Corpus Christi. I lectured to doctors at the two residencies in town for a number of years on a large number of topics within podiatry and including infectious disease, oncology and emergency medicine. I also did extensive lecturing to the diabetic support groups in the area through my affiliation with the ADA, the Latino Education Project and the Nueces County Health Department. Over the years, I’ve developed a considerable number of presentations and literature pieces for my patients as seen in the office and for the support groups I’ve lectured to over the years. My latest challenge was my working a locum tenens position in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as an associate consultant, brought over to teach new techniques for diabetic limb salvage, which was very successful. I believe my 15 years of clinical practice, the Ivy-League residency I finished in Philadelphia and my extensive private practice experience would be of great benefit.
