CollapseDescription

Please accept the attached resume as an application for a position in the area of Executive Administrative Assistant or Legal Secretary. I am presently employed at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP in Washington, DC but because of family, I will be moving to the Huntsville, Alabama area permanently. At Kilpatrick, I work closely with the Employee Benefits Team. We take care of all the benefits for some of the major companies in the nation. We represent YUM! Brands, Inc. (KFC, Taco Bell, etc.), AXA/Equitable Life Assurance Society, Federal Express, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Frontier Communications Corporation, just to name a few. I also assist an associate who specializes in Litigation. While working at Manatt Phelps & Phillips LLP, I worked for Christopher A. Cole, a partner who practiced complex commercial litigation cases and is well-known for defending companies accused of false advertising and deceptive or unfair trade practices. We were involved in several major cases that were litigated, one of which was the Hoover Vacuum vs. Dyson case where Hoover (owned by Maytag) challenged a number of advertising claims made by Dyson since it launched in the United States. A cross-office team at Manatt litigators defended Dyson and the case settled on the eve of the trial. While Mr. Cole was travelling back and forth from England, where Dyson is manufactured, I continued to keep the ball rolling in our Washington, DC office. I was involved in many other cases, but I enjoyed this one because I walked away with a brand new Dyson vacuum cleaner (smile). While at Nixon Peabody LLP, I assisted in the long-running Signature Flight Support Corp. v. Landow Aviation case. This was a case between two aviation companies at the Washington Dulles airport and Nixon landed a victory for Signature Flight and later filed a motion for Landow to pay all attorneys’ fees in the case. I also had a wonderful opportunity to work for Robert Hamilton, the Vice President and General Manager of the US and Canada Region of Eastman Kodak. Unfortunately, Kodak closed the Washington office and all staff was sent back to Rochester, NY. At that particular time, I did not want to move to Rochester, NY. Needless to say, Mr. Hamilton’s schedule required a person who could be on target at all times. I already have a home in Madison and I’ve been travelling back and forth from Alabama to Washington, DC. Please let me know if there is any positive requests in your office at this time. Thank you so much for your consideration. Sincerely, Carlotta L. Dabney
