ACCOMPLISHMENTS * Established several on-going research collaborations within the USDA labs and other external researchers. * Generating 1st transcriptome that will compare gene expression in feeding and starving mites. * Created/developed a mite growth chamber for the study of Varroa destructor mites. * Developed a system for maintaining Varroa mites in laboratory. * Managed and supervised completion of NSF and NIH funded projects to achieve research goals. * Completed research in tick neurobiology, reproduction, and endocrinology using advanced molecular techniques, proteomics & transcriptomics. * Successfully generated, analyzed, and deposited three transcriptome libraries in NCBI database. * Oversaw development of technical and research documents such as protocols, publications, projects, lab schedule. * Established strong teamwork principles by promoting effective working relations and communication within lab group and with collaborators. * Delivered talks on research results at prestigious scientific meetings. * Promoted and implemented lab meetings. * Supervised research projects and training of over 11 lab team researchers, interns and several lab-teaching assistants. * Guaranteed that all data met stringent quality control standards ensured good & safe laboratory practices. * Actively involved in promoting and facilitating STEM education and programs.
