Assistant Professor of Nursing
I am applying for the position Assistant Professor of Clinical. My career objective is to move from full-time nurse educator in an Associate Degree Nursing Program to full-time clinical instructor in a university setting. Over the past 16 years I have been employed full-time in an Associate Degree Nursing Program as a lecturer and clinical instructor. I have taught theory courses in medical-surgical nursing, management and leadership, nursing process, and nursing skills. I have provided leadership in curriculum development and design as well as with various committee assignments. Currently, I have a leadership role to educate nursing faculty about evidence-based practice and how to incorporate evidence-based practice threads in the nursing curriculum. Twenty hours per week is spent in the acute care setting as a clinical instructor. I consistently receive outstanding feedback from the clinical agency about my performance as a clinical instructor. Student feedback each semester commends my effectiveness as an instructor. During the past 16 years I have worked part-time as a family nurse practitioner: seven years have been a biobehavioral health focus in long-term care, group homes, and assisted living settings; five years were in acute care oncology; five years were in primary care. My goal is to remain in practice as a nurse practitioner. The academic preparation as a Doctor of Nursing Practice has enhanced knowledge and evidence-based practice and how to apply evidence-based practice into clinical practice. With my experience in academia, clinical practice, leadership, and knowledge of evidence-based practice, you may be assured of my ability to make a positive contribution to student learning and to support the mission and vision of the nursing division.
