Description
Summary/ Cover Letter College Baseball player English teacher baseball coach softball coach Film Teacher Door to Door AT&T salesman Editor in Chief of a Southern Lifestyle Magazine. Sounds like a strange sequence, I know. I'm still waiting for my dream job (s): Professional Baseball Player, Dolphin Trainer at Seaworld. I'm too old to start playing baseball again and for some reason my brain cannot handle Organic Chemistry. However, what I am searching for is the perfect position within a company and/or organization. This perfect position is challenging and is one that makes me happy the sort of happy where I am excited to get out of bed each morning and rush to work and then, on my drive home, feel good about what I accomplished each day. I know this position is out there and I am very confident that I will make an excellent contribution to any company. I do love teaching. I was an excellent teacher as Dr. Cindy Nobles-Bristow will certainly testify. I was inventive, creative, organized, well liked, and was able to balance teaching Gifted English while coaching 2 sports. There is a reason not many high school coaches teacher English. I did it very well for 9 years. However, in November 2014, while teaching American Modernist Poetry, I taught a poem that a student thought was inappropriate. I resigned my position at Loganville High School. From there, desperate to get working, I took a position with Fire, Inc and was an Account Manager/Door to Door Salesman for AT&T U-Verse. This position taught me more than I thought it would. It taught persuasion and sales like nothing else could. Working for a year strictly on commission, I learned very quickly how to always stay positive and to turn negatives into positives at every turn and at every doorstep. I also built up and trained a sales team and was often asked to train the entire office. Within 3 months, I was the top selling rep in the country. Malcolm Elavia will certainly testify as to my work ethic and overall ability. However, after being held at gun point twice, I decided to look for something else. I found it with Southern Distinction Magazine. As Editor in Chief and Publisher Assistant, I got the opportunity to not only use my excellent communication skills and English background but also my sales skills as well. In addition to editing the entire magazine, I also scheduled sales appointments for the Publisher and myself and sold advertising over the phone. I created and wrote numerous advertisements for various advertisers and the magazine. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the magazine however, due to a constant negative working environment, I made the difficult decision to resign my position. Cynde Hyde, the Publisher, asked me to stay on two different instances and then asked me train my replacements. Obviously, I was an excellent Editor in Chief. I realize that my resume and background may seem "all over the place." In some ways, you would be correct. However, unlike other candidates, I have experience across many different spectrums and environments whereas someone else may only have experience in one particular environment. I am able to adapt to any environment and learn extremely quickly and you certainly want someone who is comfortable in any situation presented. I am that person. I would love the chance to sit down with you and discuss the position (s) you have available. I am confident that I will make a wonderful contribution to your company and/or organization. To quote one of my favorite movies, I'm "gonna make you proud one day, I promise you."
