Carl Keith Edwards, III, Ph.D. brings an outstanding array of scientific leadership and management skills to the Global Biopharmaceutical and Pharmaceutical Industries. Dr. Edwards has delivered significant results in R&D, Drug Discovery, Preclinical Development, and First-in-Man / Phase I - IV Clinical Trial design and commercial product implementation. He has previously served as Chief Scientific Officer, Co-Founder, Vice President, Scientific Research Fellow, and Senior Principal Research Immunologist. Dr. Edwards is currently: (1) Head, Preclinical Research and Development, Amicrobe, Inc., and (2) Adjunct Professor of Medicine, Department of Infectious Diseases, University of Colorado Denver, Anschutz Medical Campus (UCD-AMC; Aurora, CO). While on academic leave from UCD-AMC, Dr. Edwards also served as Professor of Medicine, Immunology Division Head, West China Medical School and Hospital, National Key Laboratory of Biotherapy and Cancer Research, Sichuan University (Chengdu, China), where he was responsible for all Immunology-based R&D, taught graduate level Molecular and Cellular Immunology, oversaw an extensive inflammation drug discovery and development program, and supervised numerous M.S. and Ph.D. students achieving their degrees. Dr. Edwards has directed inflammation franchise research, preclinical, and clinical project teams tasked with optimizing innovative design of non-immunogenic, safe, and effective, first and second-generation anti-cytokine receptor therapeutics including WSBI-711/WSBI-712 (Western States Biopharmaceuticals), Pegsunercept™, Kineret®, Enbrel®, Prolia®, Interferon-γ Mab, TACI “Peptibody”, BAFF fusion protein (Amgen), MDL201449A (Aventis).
