I became a CNA because it was the fastest way I could aquire a position at a hospital and serve the patients. This has also enabeled me to gain a better understanding of the patient's needs as well as the important role the nurses provide as a liaison between the patient and the doctor. I feel that I would be a great asset in the nursing field because I have a compassionate heart as well as excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. My past experience has always been in the medical field. First, I worked as a dental assistant for 7 years, then I was co-owner of an optical company for 8 years. My duties consisted of an opthalmic tech, scheduling appointments, managing all accounts payable and receivable, as well as all inventory control and reordering all optical goods. I was also responsible for new employeees training, hiring/dismissal. Although I enjoyed my previous careers, I always wanted to be a nurse. I am currently enrolled in a Junior College taking my prerequisite classes. I intend to pursue my LPN then my RN degee.
