RssRegistered Nurse, Chicago

Dear Hiring Manager, I am writing in response to the open RN positions you have in your hospital. I have just completed the limited enrollment nursing program at William Rainey Harper College. During my educational journey I obtained excellent clinical grades, professor recommendations and reviews. Becoming a nurse was not something I feel that I chose, I believe it chose me. Previously I held a very successful position as Director of Human Resources for a mid-sized marketing company. My twelve year career with that company brought me great confidence and preparation for my choice to become a nurse. Although I was very happy with my position, I was prompted to change careers after my Father found himself in a head to head battle with cancer that later took his life. Being in the hospitals and being at his side aiding in his care made me aware of traits in myself that I didn’t realize I had and it became clear to me that there was a higher calling for me, being a compassionate nurse. Since my decision to return to school to pursue this I have always known my place was in the Emergency Room. Through all my clinicals, that dream has not changed. I am a very fast paced worker who thrives in a changing environment. I work very strongly in high pressure and intense situations which is one of the biggest reasons I know I belong in the ER. I am very aware that being in the emergency room requires skills, knowledge and instinct that comes with time and practice, but I believe in myself and my ability to be in this type of setting. As I begin my new career I will also be pursuing the next level of nursing degree as I am committed to lifelong education and growth. My clinical experience includes clinical time on the following units: neurological, ortho/surgical, respiratory, telemetry, cardiovascular ICU, neurological ICU, emergency department, cardiac cath, oncology and psychiatric all at Alexian Brothers Medical Center and Northwest Community Hospital. In addition I had clinical time on a pediatric infectious Disease floor at Lurie Children’s Hospital. Each day it has been my goal to learn more and deliver exceptional care to not only the patients but to the loved ones supporting them. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to discuss my experience, letters of recommendation and your open positions. I look forward to hearing from you and I thank you in advance for the opportunity. Sincerely yours, Deana Valerio 6146 W Cornelia Ave Chicago, IL 60634 deanavalerio@gmail.com 847.212.7625
