RssVisiting Scientist

My career objective is a career in a mathematical, math-related, or high technology field. I earned my Ph.D. in Mathematics from North Carolina State University in May 2010, and I wrote my thesis under Dr. Aloysius Helminck, who was and is the chairman and head of the mathematics department at NCSU. I have considerable experience evaluating and simplifying complex technical documents. When I worked at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) in St. Louis for a year as a Visiting Scientist, one of my main tasks involved updating and simplifying a (classified) sensor model document that had not been updated for more than twenty years. This document amounted to a step-by-step algorithm that was based in the fields of photogrammetry and geodesy, which I arrived at NGA knowing absolutely nothing about. In addition, I conducted many studies on both this sensor model and another one using software such as Socet Set, Socet GXP, and MATLAB. As a result of this job, I have an active TS/SCI security clearance. I have also worked as a contract editor (an editor who is a contractor) for American Journal Experts since April 2010. This job involves editing and simplifying technical papers in the fields of mathematics, applied mathematics, physics, and economics, among others. These papers are written by non-native speakers of English, and in general they are highly technical and have little explanation for those lacking a field-specific knowledge base.
