Samantha Dawn Brown 645 Rolling Hills Drive, Lavalette, Wv 25535 samrn97rio@gmail.com Tel: 304-412-3460 / 304-617-3567 Personal Statement I am a dedicated RN who has ambition to succeed in any position held. I have practiced as an RN for 14 years. My experience ranges from midnight charge nurse for a 28 bed oncology metabolic unit to admission nurse for a hospital based home health agency, to becoming Director of Operations for a multi-million dollar agency. I love to learn and am always up to a challenge. I view myself as a team builder who gets along well with others. I am seeking a position where I can excel personally and enable the same for my employer. Work Experience Director of Operations (Jun-2009 - Nov 2012) Amedisys, Inc., Huntington, Wv Responsibilities include total operations financially and clinically. I have managed as many as 90+ employees, completed performance improvement tasks at least quarterly, processed payroll, scheduling, and managed field clinicians. I have assisted with creating annual budgets and also am accountable for meeting monthly budget expectations. As director, I am also responsible for weekly, monthly summary reports which summarize the total operation picture of the agency. I have been responsible for multiple care centers throughout the year due to position vacancies and have exceeded expectations in every instance. Admission RN - Home Health (May-2004 - Jun-2009) St Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, Wv I was the soul admission nurse for a 165+ census, hospital based home health agency. I assessed patients for skilled need as well as evaluated their qualifications according to Medicare guidelines. I was Oasis Certified. My responsibilities included assessment and care plan creation as well as providing disease specific educations to families/caregivers. I, very often, collaborated with other health care peers/professionals to ensure holistic needs of the patient were met. This position was dissolved when the hospital partnered with an independent home health company. It was at that time, I applied and was hired into the Amedisys organization. RN-Surgical Intensive Care-Trauma (Mar-2003 - May-2004) St Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, Wv Midnight staff nurse for a Level III Trauma-Surgical Intensive Care Unit. My responsibilities included, but were not limited to total care of 2-3 critically ill patients. I managed ventilated patients, multiple IV drips and drains, cardiac rhythms, and communicated patient condition with families. Educating the family members as well as students was also a part of my responsibilities. I was ACLS certified and actively participated as a part of the Code Team and Stroke Team. I truly enjoyed working in the SICU, but transferred to the home health department after becoming pregnant with my first child. ICU Fellowship at Kings Daughters Medical Center Aug 2002 - Mar 2003 ~Training for intensive care nursing. RN- Oncology/Metabolic Unit ~Midnight Charge (Aug-1997 - Aug-2002) Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, Wv I worked as 7p-7a charge nurse on a 28 bed oncology/metabolic unit. I was responsible for patient care, scheduling, physician communications, and patient/family complaint resolution. I was chemo certified. I was also the chosen as the unit trainer when the computerized charting was introduced. My experience here was very vast due to the influx of many different patients with varying diagnosis. I left this unit to pursue a career in ICU. I was chosen to take part in a fellowship program at KDMC, which would provide the education I felt would enable me to provide care to the critically ill patient. Education Associate of Applied Science - Nursing - University of Rio Grande/Holzer School of Nsg, Rio Grande, Ohio (Sep-1995 - Jun-1997) Skills I am comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I enjoy performance improvement activities, developing plans, implementing plans, and evaluating the outcomes. My experience as Director of Operations has exposed me to a multitude of reports and number gathering, which I have become very comfortable in using. I am a good communicator and team builder.
