Description
Microbiologist/Biochemist with strong passion and experience in human & animal disease diagnostics, research, business development, clinical trial research, and scientific & medical writing in oncology, immunology, HIV, HCV, HBV, virology, toxicology, dermatology, drugs of abuse, metals, human nutrition, and clinical and environmental microbiology. Independent project innovation from conception to implementation. Feasibility of clinical trial research projects prior to their implementation. * To assess antiviral treatment response in HCV patients, envisioned and researched which biomarker to be screened. Initiated liaison and collaboration with scientific expert. Developed and performed ELISA based biomarker assay. Reviewed patients' medical charts and decided which clinical information to be correlated with lab findings. Published results were subsequently confirmed by leading HCV and alcohol liver disease experts in peer review journals. Biotechnology company officials invited to initiate clinical trial collaboration on a new anti-HCV agent. Recent peer review publication suggests its role in distinguishing chronic and acute HCV patients. * To perform research on HCV with no available resources, researched and investigated one of the fundamental questions of liver disease caused by HCV, i.e. cytopathic effect of HCV. Collaborated, analyzed and compared all available HCV amino acid sequences in public databases. Hypothesized and performed modelling investigations. Pharma-Transfer, Dialog in Drug Discovery posted the findings without any editions. Results validated by leading HCV investigators. * Conceived, investigated, provided and implemented PCR based viral hepatitis testing services when no such tests were commercially available. As a result, the center received funding for the lab including the salaries for personnel for nearly 15 years. Provided hands-on training and detailed technical guidance to national and international scientists and physicians to implement such services at their organizations. * Graduate research was carried out very independently after the demise of PhD mentor within the first few months of starting research project. In order to obtain the starting research materials, radioactive compounds and standards that were not available commercially, initiated liaisons and collaborations with national and international scientific experts, government officials and industry officials through verbal and written communications. Discovered novel bacteria. Purified to near homogeneity a novel bioemulsifier using gel filtration, ion exchange chromatography and other protein purification methods. Invited speaker at FAO/IAEA conference. The peer review publication is one of the few reports of its kind till today. It is quite visible as evident by Google search. Skilled at conceiving, designing, researching, investigating and implementing immunological, virological, molecular biological, cellular, biochemical and microbiological assays.
