Over 30 years experience in the construction industry as a Senior Electrical Designer and Electrical Field Engineer in the refinery (oil and gas mid and upstream) steel, aluminum, chemical, pulp and paper, pharmaceutical, nuclear, power and marine industries. Certified as a registered electrician. REFINERY - 8 ? years Electrical design of power, grounding, fiber optic and lighting for upgrades to Shell Oil Motiva/Convent plant. Designed and drafted grounding and lighting for Murphy Oil upgrade Designed cable and conduit routing for Chevron equipment changeout. Field engineer for a two (2) week shutdown at Chevron Plant for MCC changeout. Designed underground duct banks, lighting, grounding, cable sizing, conduit sizing, panel and circuit breaker sizing. Checked electrical drawings for Approval and Issued for Construction drawings for an Andarko project. NUCLEAR POWER PLANT - 3 YearsResponsible for the design, routing and drafting for the DBT security upgrade to the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station of the outer and inner hardened man security posts, crash gates and movable bollards. This included the design and layout of block diagrams, control panels, interconnection wiring diagrams, sizing and routing of control and power cables, routing of fiber optic telephone cables, physical walkdowns and the assistance in the resolution of field construction problems. RCA access, Safeguard information access, PA access. Designed and drafted 15kV duct bank and lighting for Waste Solidification Building at Savannah River Site. Designed and drafted electrical equipment for the CAS and SAS. Field engineered the locations and routing of fence detection system and associated ductbanks at the James A FitzPatrick Nuclear Generating Station. Electrical Field Engineer at Grand Gulf NGS where I oversaw the electrical installation of several MOD's. Responsible for the final design of conduit routing and seismic supports for several MOD's relating to the EPU Project at Turkey Point NGS. This was accomplished by doing walk downs, measurements and by working closely with Civil Engineers, Electrical Field Engineers, Electrical Superintendants, and Electricians. POWER PLANT - 1 1/2 years Responsible for the design of underground conduit, exposed conduit, raceway schedule, cable list, telephone and Gai-tronics system, for two (2) 900MW power plants. This also included field engineering at one of the sites that included field design changes, answering electrical construction field questions, rerouting conduit and cable due to interferences and abandoned conduits. Liaisons between field and engineering. INDUSTRIAL Steel and Aluminum 14 years Responsible for the design, layout and drafting of power, lighting, cable, exposed and embedded conduit, grounding, lightning protection, fire alarm systems, communication systems, dc bus, 6.9 and 15 kv feeders, heat tracing and cable tray systems. This included lighting and voltage drop calculations, sizing of cable, conduit panels, switches, boxes, trays, MCC and switchgear. CHEMICAL 20 years Responsible for the design and layout of high and low voltage, pole line construction, power, lighting, conduit, cable, cable tray systems and lightning protection for various types of chemical and fiber producing plants. This included calculating voltage drop, sizing of panels, disconnects, boxes, conduit, transformers and cable. APPLICATION ENGINEERING 4 years Responsible for the calculation of horsepower ratings, motor torque, moment of inertia and loadings for table roll motors, screw downs and stand motors for hot, cold and continuous casting mills for both aluminum and steel mills. CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING 7 years Responsible for the checking of construction drawings prior to installation for errors and making field changes due to interference with other trades. Coordinated the installation of tray, conduit, cable and lighting equipment with other trades. Priced and ordered material, made field change sketches and drawings as required and inspected incoming equipment and material for transportation damage. PULP and PAPER 1 ? years Responsible for the complete electrical design and field engineering of all instrumentation, high and low voltage tray systems and embedded conduit for a tissue paper facility. INSTRUMENTATION 1 ? years Responsible for writing scopes of work for project design designing and revising instrument loop sheets, instrument control schematics and instrument location drawings. Specify and request vendor quotes for instruments and write bills of material. MARINE ENGINEERING 3 years Designed power runs, cableways, carbon monoxide, hydrogen and combustible gas detection systems for Sealift Command Surface Vessels. Designed EMI protection systems for Mine Countermeasure ships. Design of wire ways and responsible for general construction support for Trident and 688 class nuclear submarines. TEACHING - 1 1/2 years Taught theory and practical application of electrical wiring systems for residential, commercial and industrial buildings. This included the NEC, sizing of cables, conduit, panels, boxes, breakers, fuses and transformers, calculating voltage drop, running conduit and cable, making connections to panels, motors, generators and transformers. HYDROELECTRIC - 1 1/2 years Designed and detailed cable tray systems, exposed and embedded conduit. Field as-builds for a five (5) generator power plant, including the 115kV and 230 kV switchyard. This included verifying point to point connection checks from all cabinets, panels etc. and upgrading plant drawings. PHARMACEUTICAL I year Designed power, grounding and lightning protection for labs and clean rooms. This included cost estimates, material takeoff, short circuit and voltage drop calculations, conduit, cable and box sizing. GAS COMPRESSOR STATION - 3 months As-built piping and electrical drawings at Dominion Gas Company compressor station and acted as electrical and piping field engineer until the completion of construction. DAMAGE ASSESSMENT - 2 months Determined electrical damage at Grumman Shipyard from Hurricane Katrina. This included writing damage reports and estimating replacement costs. CEMENT PLANT - 1 year Field engineer responsible for writing RFI's (requests for information) for all electrical wiring and equipment problems, designing field changes to cable tray and conduit routing due to interferences, designed additional duct banks, answered electrical installation, code and wiring questions . PHYSICAL CONSTRUCTION 30 years (Registered Electrician, City of Pittsburgh) Residential, commercial, light industrial and institutional electrician. This included installation, wiring of services, motors, panels and lighting systems, estimating, specifying and purchasing electrical material. MICROSTATION 10 years AUTOCAD 11 years Electrical construction drawings using Microstation 5.0, J, SE and AutoCAD 14,2000 2004, and 2009.
